Zoom Room hired a Director of Training and Socialization. Two mobile dog gym operators launched in Oregon within months of each other. Shanghai opened its first dedicated canine fitness center. Germany's HuffysFIT is expanding this year. Brazil's Fisio Care Pet now runs over 100 rehabilitation clinics across 17 states.
These aren't five unrelated service businesses. They're the same bet, placed five times, in five markets.
The pattern independents are missing
The category emerging here isn't dog training. It's structured canine wellness, exercise, rehabilitation, and socialization sold as a bundled service with a monthly cadence. The companies launching these facilities are building captive audiences for consumables: the recovery and conditioning products that support post-workout routines.
Zoom Room's new hire, Darris Cooper, said the company's largest customer segment consists of puppies between 8 and 16 weeks old, followed by adolescent dogs between 6 and 18 months. The fastest-growing segment is adult dogs, driven by owners addressing socialization gaps. Cooper noted a growing trend toward repeat attendance and a surge in demand for agility programs.
Mobile operators are solving a different problem with the same outcome. Stefanie Zwegers, who launched Bend Barks & Rec in Oregon earlier this year, brings a climate-controlled mobile gym to clients' homes or workplaces for 30-minute sessions using non-motorized slatmills. She said smoke season, extreme weather, and busy schedules make it difficult for owners to give dogs adequate exercise, and most unwanted behaviors stem from extra energy with no healthy outlet. Another Oregon operator, UpDog Mobile Dog Gym, has been offering a similar concept in the Eugene-Springfield area since October 2024 and now offers private sessions, pop-up events at local pet stores, and a pick-up service.
In Shanghai, Gogogym opened in the West Bund area in 2025 and continued to attract attention in 2026 as the market for premium pet wellness services expanded. The facility combines canine fitness, rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, and massage with personalized programs. In the Netherlands, Terra Agility & Fitness launched a Puppy Academy in 2026, expanding into early-life fitness and physical development. Germany's HuffysFIT positions itself as one of Europe's first dedicated dog fitness chains, expanding this year through underwater treadmill training, muscle building, and weight management programs.
Brazil's market is splitting between fitness and rehabilitation. Dog Sports in São Paulo offers conditioning programs focused on muscle strengthening, balance, and coordination, positioning exercise as disease prevention. Pet Pilates, a veterinarian-owned studio, provides Pilates-based therapy for pets with mobility issues and chronic pain. Fisio Care Pet operates over 100 clinics offering physiotherapy, hydro treadmill, laser therapy, and Pilates-based rehabilitation, with plans to expand beyond dogs to cats and non-conventional pets.
