Fera Pets launched Healthy Weight & Muscles for Dogs, a daily soft chew formulated to support lean muscle mass and metabolism, and is selling it on ferapets.com and Amazon. The company, founded by veterinarian Dr. Michelle Dulake, unveiled the product at SuperZoo 2026 and positioned it as a science-backed option for dogs at every activity level.

The DTC-and-Amazon path signals no specialty distribution yet

Fera Pets is selling the new SKU through its own site and Amazon. The company did not announce distribution through pet specialty retailers, distributors, or any physical shelf placement. A buyer evaluating the line has no indication yet whether Fera Pets plans to pursue specialty retail or has worked with independent stores before.

The product targets body composition in aging dogs. According to Dr. Dulake, dogs gradually lose muscle and gain fat as they age, often without any change on the scale, and their metabolism slows. The formula combines ingredients the company describes as clinically studied (myHMB, PRIOME, and Betafin) to address muscle protein synthesis, fat metabolism, and metabolic function. Fera Pets said every product it makes is veterinarian-formulated, manufactured in the United States, third-party tested, and carries the NASC Quality Seal.

The vet-founded credibility is the pitch, and the category is already crowded

Weight-management supplements sit in the high-margin wellness category every independent pet retailer stocks, and the shelf is competitive. Fera Pets is counting on its veterinarian founder and clinical-ingredient messaging to separate it from legacy brands and from newer DTC wellness lines. The packaging and the science story will need to do that work at shelf if the brand reaches retail distribution.

The timing is deliberate. Pet parents are asking for proactive, science-backed ways to manage their dogs' weight and body composition, according to the company, and Fera Pets developed the chew to meet that demand. The metabolic-function language appeals to owners who want clinical products without crossing into prescription territory.

What the DTC-first model means for a buyer

Fera Pets built its business selling direct to consumers and through Amazon. That model can create tension if the brand's own site or Amazon undercuts your retail price, and a customer walks in to show you the difference on their phone.

The company did not announce minimum order quantities, wholesale pricing, MAP enforcement, or any terms a buyer would need to evaluate the line. The decision comes down to whether Fera Pets will support retail with pricing discipline if it pursues specialty distribution, and whether the brand's customer base could create pull-through at your register.

Our read on the launch

Fera Pets launched a single SKU and is selling it through its own site and Amazon. We'd watch whether Fera announces retail partnerships in the next six months, and we'd ask any rep who pitches the line what the brand's sell-through looks like on Amazon and whether they enforce MAP.

The vet-founded positioning is real and the clinical-ingredient story is the kind of thing that moves product in the wellness aisle, but launching without specialty distribution announced means we don't yet know how the brand approaches retail. If you stock two or three weight-management supplements already and none of them are vet-founded, Fera Pets might earn a trial. If your shelf is full and velocity is strong, there's no reason to make room until the brand shows it can drive traffic your direction.
