Pedigree Wholesale is running PATS 2026 as a first-look buying event for independents
The UK distributor is showcasing exclusive launches and refreshed ranges at Stand K10, with show-only promotional discounts for retailers who attend.
Pedigree Wholesale's PATS 2026 booth is being positioned as a launch platform for exclusive SKUs rather than a catalog display.
The UK distributor said it will showcase exclusive launches, refreshed ranges, and award-winning products at the show, positioning PATS as a first-look buying opportunity for independent pet retailers. The company called PATS "the highlight of the UK pet trade calendar" and said its focus for 2026 is equipping retail partners with trend-led, high-performing products to help them stand out in a competitive market.
The exclusivity play and what it costs
Pedigree Wholesale said it will unveil new plush toy additions from Animal Instincts created for pet owners seeking sustainable choices, reliable quality, and accessible price points. The company will also showcase Pawtential natural collagen chews, which recently won an industry award, including new product offerings the company said are exclusive to specialist pet. A refreshed Chuckit! range with updated branding and packaging will also debut at the show, redesigned to maximize shelf impact.
The company did not specify exclusivity windows, margin structures, or SKU counts. The booth is at Stand K10, and the company said it will offer exclusive show-only promotional discounts to retailers who visit.
The pattern across distributors
The shift turns PATS into a decision point for buyers: attend and commit early to lock products competitors won't carry for some period, or skip and wait for broader release that may or may not come.
The risk for the store owner is committing shelf space and capital to a product with no sell-through history, based on a booth preview. The risk for the distributor is that exclusivity windows collapse if the product doesn't move and the brand opens other channels to hit volume.
We're watching whether exclusivity holds past the show floor. A meaningful window where only PATS attendees can stock a SKU is a real advantage. A short window before the product hits every distributor's catalog is a booth gimmick. The distributor's language, "exclusive to specialist pet" for Pawtential and "exclusive first look" for Chuckit!, suggests category exclusivity rather than time exclusivity, which is a different play.
We're also watching whether the show-only promotional discounts are deep enough to offset the risk of stocking an unproven SKU. A modest discount is a margin bump. A meaningful reorder incentive changes how the numbers work.
The thing to watch next
Whether other distributors follow this model at the next round of regional shows. If PATS becomes a buying event rather than a catalog preview, the value of attending shifts for the store owner who can't commit to a large initial buy on a booth handshake. The booth becomes a buyer's meeting, not a store owner's meeting, and that splits the audience.
