Non-Stop Dogwear launched a performance harness refined with athletes for pulling sports
The Norwegian brand worked with canicross and bikejoring competitors to refine the new Freemotion Harness Pro for movement under load.
Non-Stop Dogwear launched the Freemotion Harness Pro, a pulling-sport harness the Norwegian brand developed and tested with canicross and bikejoring athletes. The company said the new harness refines the original Freemotion line for performance under load, with changes to fit, seam construction, and adjustability.
What the company built into the Pro version
The Freemotion Harness Pro carries an ergonomic Y-shaped front, adjustable side and back straps, and what Non-Stop Dogwear calls CleanSeam construction, seams reversed away from the dog's body for a smoother finish against the coat. The original Freemotion harness has been used by athletes in canicross, bikejoring, skijoring, and other pulling sports, according to the company. Non-Stop Dogwear has more than 15 years of pulling-sport expertise.
Tonje Wahl Evensen, chief executive at Non-Stop Dogwear, said the new harness "is built for those who expect the very best from themselves, their dogs and their equipment. It combines everything we have learned from years at the highest level of dog-powered sports with the latest evolution of our product development."
The decision a specialty buyer is making
A buyer stocking both the original Freemotion and the Pro version splits inventory dollars across two SKUs serving the same customer base, unless the performance tier pulls a new buyer who would not have purchased the original. The company did not disclose pricing, distribution partners, or whether the Pro replaces the original Freemotion or runs alongside it. That last detail matters: if the Pro sits next to the original, a store carries two harnesses competing for the same pulling-sport customer. If it replaces the original, the buyer is counting on the performance refinements to justify whatever price premium the Pro commands without losing the customer who would have bought the base model.
Performance-sport gear moves slower than everyday harnesses, but canicross and pulling-sport customers shop specialty first when they want competition-grade equipment. The niche is real, and it skews toward independents over mass. A store owner needs to know whether the performance tier expands the category or just fragments existing Freemotion sales across two price points.
Non-Stop Dogwear's 15-year track record in pulling sports and the athlete-tested claim give the Pro version credibility with the competition customer, but they do not prove the SKU will turn on a specialty shelf. The company did not name the athletes it worked with, the testing timeline, or the specific performance metrics the Pro improves over the original. A buyer deciding whether to stock the Pro needs to know whether the refinements, the reversed seams, the adjustability, the streamlined fit, solve a problem the original Freemotion left unsolved, or whether they are incremental improvements that a casual pulling-sport customer will not pay extra for.
The risk for a store owner is that the Pro cannibalizes the original Freemotion without expanding total harness sales. The opportunity is that the performance tier anchors specialty positioning against mass retailers who stock everyday harnesses but not competition-grade pulling gear. The turn rate and the margin spread between the two SKUs will decide how this plays out, and Non-Stop Dogwear has not disclosed either.
What a store stocking this line needs to know
If you already carry the original Freemotion, you need to know whether the Pro replaces it or runs alongside it. If it replaces it, you are counting on the performance refinements to hold the existing customer base and justify a higher retail price. If it runs alongside it, you need to articulate the difference to a customer standing in the aisle looking at two Freemotion harnesses, and that articulation has to be concrete enough to close the sale on the higher-priced SKU rather than defaulting to the original.
If you do not currently stock Non-Stop Dogwear, the Pro launch does not answer whether the brand has distribution in your region, what the wholesale cost is, or what the minimum order looks like. The company did not disclose retail partners or a launch timeline. A buyer interested in the line needs to contact Non-Stop Dogwear directly to get those specifics before deciding whether the performance niche justifies the inventory commitment.
